I like your solo (clams included).
Thanks, Stu! The only really glaring one was when I accidentally hit an open string, but even in a fast run, I can hear when there was a note or two that wasn't what I meant to play and it always bugs me. I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist. But hearing that solo made me think I oughta slow down more often; my favorite part was the more melodic material in the beginning of it. There's something about playing live that makes you feel like you've gotta "go for broke" all the time. Sheesh... relax, Ernie!

I know exactly how you feel. I've discovered the same thing myself. When I recently injured my left hand pinky right before a gig (the second time I've done that) it forced me to adjust my playing slightly. I couldn't "show off" so the flashy, trashy stuff had to take back seat to more melodic and "soulful" stuff. That was not a bad thing. It's just too bad it takes a chunk of flesh out of my finger or a 1/4" long gash to remind me of that.
I have no idea what is going on... www.zachtate.com |

oh, that's called an "extended" solo in these modern days of entertainment industry? pretty interesting, makes me conclude that You get paid for NOT playing?
anyway, if trips like this are added a bonus, it may be better thah nothing.
nice version by the way!!!

I guess you could say that if you consider anything that isn't improvised soloing to be "not playing." But I'm certainly busy doing something, because I'm reasonably exhausted after our two hour shows.
Hey, it's POP music, Franjo. These days, you're lucky if there's any guitar solo; it's just not a staple of popular rock anymore. Fortunately, I have a Brazilian jazz gig every Thursday where I get to solo to my heart's content on practically every tune. Some gigs are for fun and others are for money. The two intersect at certain points, luckily.

I'm studying for a test this weekend and I usually like to listen to instrumental music while I study.
Gave Bad Dog U a listen for the first time in a while.
You should be soloing more was the conclusion I came to.

Well, thanks Buc! But I might have to wait until I'm asked to join the Lt. Jam Band.

hell, yes! the guitar solo could be drawing too much attention in the supermarket background muzak. i curse the industy's rotten bones and their fouling guts... ok, ok, maybe some guitar solos had been so boring that they'be better never been played .
no guitar solo is better than a bad one. we can have 24 tracks of christina aguilera-yodeling instead .
